Overall Google Map of Ft. McCoy
Includes ski lodge and Range 18
The property of Ft. McCoy consists of land “on base” and “off base.” The “on base” area is clearly visible on most maps as a triangle of buildings and roads, just north of Hwy 21 between Tunnel City and Sparta. No events related to the finale match are being held “on base” and thus, you should avoid it. It is a restricted area and special credentials are needed to enter.
Both the ski lodge and the range are “off base” – but still on property belonging to the US Army. All ranges, lands and buildings you see are still US property and should not be accessed without permission. The land surrounding Ft. McCoy consists of tank trails, artillery ranges, and other lands actively used for training. You can travel along the roadways but do not wander into areas where you don’t belong. We are guests at this great facility – not often do groups get access to these ranges.
Plan on extra time when driving to and from destinations. Many of the roads are gravel and wind through the woods.
